The initial layout quality of turnouts is largely responsible for determining how long they will last. After installation, work hardening occurs due to driving, resulting in over-rolling in the turnout device and frog area. To increase the service life of the turnout, we offer an initial maintenance service for all turnouts delivered by WWG.
With simple turnouts, the first service should be performed upon reaching the 3 million gross ton threshold, and with curved turnouts, at the 2 million gross ton threshold.
