The voestalpine spectrum ranges from ultra-high-strength steels for the toughest applications to mild steels with the highest forming requirements. The tightest radii can be achieved when processing into sophisticated household appliances. Our strip steels achieve their extraordinary deep-drawing properties with minimal susceptibility to cracking.

Their excellent material properties are demonstrated, for example, by the fact that only a few oxides of the alloying metals accumulate at the edges of the rolled steels. This results in reduced post-treatment costs, which can contribute to the development of enormous savings potential in production.

Our innovative coating concepts also offer savings in the number of process steps. Thanks to our virtually invisible multicover® protective coating, for example, there is no need to add lubricant during the forming process. This anti-fingerprint solution also ensures that products retain an attractive appearance even after frequent use. In addition, our coating allows surfaces to be painted over without additional surface conditioning.

Cold-rolled steel strip from voestalpine combines the best surface appearance with the tightest thickness tolerances. Our enamelable cold-rolled strip, for example, has excellent coating adhesion and the best cold-forming properties. This makes it ideal for use in the sanitary sector and for kitchen fittings.

We also offer our steel strip with a wide range of coating solutions. Hot-dip galvanized flat steel from voestalpine, for example, is recommended for a wide range of applications thanks to its high corrosion resistance and excellent processing properties.

For voestalpine customers in the household appliance industry, we offer machining services through our global sales and service networks that prepare our products perfectly for further processing and thus shorten lead times. One example of this is the locations of our High Performance Metals Division, which provides services such as 6-sided machining of plates, gun drilling for cooling channels, contour machining, roll forming tools or contour machining of open-die forged parts on a regionally variable basis. We use state-of-the-art slitting lines to produce high-quality slit strips precisely to our customers' requirements.

colofer® is organic coated steel strip from voestalpine. By combining hot-dip galvanized steel strip with several layers of paint, we create a versatile product with excellent processing properties, long-term corrosion protection and high color stability. In the design of household appliances and in interior and exterior architecture, colofer® impresses with almost unlimited design variety.

Its wide range of colors in high-end design proves that household appliances and façade elements made of pre-coated steel can be durable and attractive. Our colofer® steel strip has long proven its worth in the shaping processes of the household appliance industry. The product range covers a variety of color and surface solutions, such as

Using special lacquers, we also reproduce the original feel (the tactile sensation) in a deceptively real way. colofer® HOME is the latest development for the household appliance industry and shines with an 'Inox-Lookalike' surface.

For the production of smaller household appliance series, we offer a special service with colover®  coil splitting: Instead of having to order an entire coil in a special color, a coil can be divided into up to three coatings. In this way, delivery quantities and requirements can be optimally coordinated and residual material and costs can be reduced.

With multicover®, we produce steel strip with an exceptional surface - a multifunctional, almost invisible protective coating on hot-dip galvanized steel strip with excellent anti-fingerprint properties.

In addition to maximum corrosion resistance during transportation and storage, the coating has very good formability without the need for additional lubricants. In addition, multicover® coated parts can be painted over or processed immediately without additional surface conditioning.

Our coatings are used in the production of almost all household items: whether it's to make the grinder of an automatic coffee machine durable, to shape the pipes for the cooling circuit of the refrigerator or to produce the packaging for food, package the food and then seal the packaging. With our PVD coatings, we increase the service life of the tools that produce the many household items. This involves protection against adhesion (sticking of materials), abrasion (removal of materials) and corrosion. Everything leads to changes in the tools, which in turn has an impact on the end product - the grinder, the refrigerator, the packaging.

voestalpine Engineered Products are ready-to-use tool parts manufactured from our high-quality materials from BÖHLER and Uddeholm. These tailor-made parts are designed to optimize productivity and are manufactured either conventionally or additively. We supply them with innovative and optimized PVD coatings and surface structures.

Our drawn and rolled flat and profiled wire with cross-sections ranging from approx. 2 mm² to approx. 200 mm² meets the highest quality standards. The diverse range of profiles produced includes rectangular and trapezoidal profile wire, flat wire, square and half-round wire as well as customized shapes for a wide variety of applications in the household appliance industry.

Our flat and profiled wire solutions are also used in high-pressure processing (HPP) technology for food and beverage products.

Reed switches are sensors that enable the contactless switching of an electrical signal or the closing of an electrical circuit with the aid of a magnetic field. Drawn wires, such as those produced by our High Performance Metals LLC in South Boston, USA, have the highest homogeneity and best surface quality - decisive factors in the manufacture of magnetic switches.

Our products for modern façades and roofs protect buildings and interiors layer by layer. The chromate-free primer is applied to the hot-dip galvanized steel strip with a zinc-magnesium coating, which is also chromate-free. On top of this, the base coat defines the respective design variant and an applied acrylic layer defines the look, design or pattern. The colofer® top coat forms the final layer.

The range offers a large selection of different looks such as wood, carbon or stone as well as interesting optical effects for use on façades, e.g. metallic or iridescent.

By using colofer® for sheet metal roof tiles, we combine impressive aesthetics with the highest quality and outstanding functionality. And that for many decades to come.

The design of doors is not only a question of safety and functionality, but also a determining component of the characteristics of a building, as much as the business card of the users. With our colofer® options, we are able to reproduce not only colors, but also various designs such as stainless steel, wood or carbon in a deceptively realistic way. Thanks to a special 3D feel, colofer® wood looks are almost indistinguishable from a real wood surface. A broad portfolio of other steel products and efficiency-enhancing functional surfaces is also available.

For drainage systems, such as gutters and downpipes, we offer our colofer® ROBUST 35 solution in particular. In addition to excellent forming properties, it also offers enormous scratch and corrosion resistance.

Modern buildings are usually equipped with air conditioning and ventilation systems. Our multicover® coating ensures their durability and clean surfaces without fingerprints, even after installation. This sustainable, permanent sealing of the hot-dip galvanized steel strip also offers ideal formability and maximum corrosion protection.

Our colofer®  15 stands for elegance and function for indoor use. The high-quality two-layer structure with primer and polyester lacquer is impressive compared to conventional products for interior use. Typical applications are trapezoidal profiles, sandwich panels and cassette elements.

With our cold-rolled and hot-rolled enamelable steels, we produce a wide range of steel strip for all common enameling processes. They form the basis for the production of high-quality and durable products such as boilers, bathtubs and shower trays and are also in demand for applications such as heat exchangers or as façade cladding.

Tool steel is a supreme discipline among steel applications. We are the global market leader in this field. Our high-quality tool steel is used to manufacture mass-produced products in a wide range of industries. Depending on the application, it is required to have high tensile strength, toughness, working hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Tool steels can be used for cutting in drills and milling machines as well as for shaping in die casting or injection molding. Their range of applications is just as unlimited as our range of products.

Our innovative steel products are behind sophisticated plastic packaging. Smooth, shiny surfaces can only be produced if the plastic mold steel for injection molding, from which they are made, meets the highest standards: highly polishable, tough, wear- and corrosion-resistant.

What applies to packaging is required to an even greater extent from mold steels for the production of components for cell phones. Our mold steels ensure flawless miniature optics and user-friendly touch surfaces for smartphones and tablets, e.g. our BÖHLER M333 Isoplast from voestalpine High Performance Metals.

Our steels with exceptional resistance to heating and wear stress are mainly used for cutting tools, but also for forming tools at elevated temperatures, etc. Typical applications include twist drills and taps, end mills, broaching and forming tools, saw blades and much more.

Special precision, cleanliness and wear resistance are required when it comes to health. Our hot-work tool steel Uddeholm Skolvar from Uddeholms AB is used, for example, for the precise forging of implants. And our BÖHLER M380 ISOPLAST from voestalpine BÖHLER Edelstahl GmbH is used to produce molds for medical devices in diagnostics and tablet press punches.
